The LAHP Water Committee acts as a project management resource to the LAHPOA Board of Directors for the purpose of lake water quality issues. The water committee has released a progress report of the lake water quality findings. This progress report is in relation to the aeration system being installed into the Upper Lake area.

This information is important for all LAHP residents, please take a minute to review.

Garbage Pick-Up Moved

Please remember 3 maximum bags, and garbage bags can only be out for 24 hours prior to pick-up.

How Many Dogs Per Owner (Online Survey)

The city of Calgary is thinking of limiting the number of dogs one owner can bring to it’s public off-leash parks.

Animal and bylaw services is reviewing the current bylaws and the public can share their input through an online public survey.

This review follows a number of complaints about dogs that can’t be controlled and people not picking up after their dogs.

Sweeping Fire Ban in Alberta

The ban stretches from Waterton Lakes National Park in the south to north of Manning, to For McMurray.

Campers in designated campgrounds and recreation areas with built-in receptacles can still have fires.

The ban is effective immediately and until further notice. Violators face a fine of up to $5,000.

The provincial ban also prohibits fireworks and portable campfires. All outdoor fires currently burning must be extinguished and all fire permits are suspended.

The fire bans do not apply to cities, towns, villages or federal lands where there are no fire-control agreements.

The fire hazard and weather conditions will be monitored on a daily basis, and the ban will be removed or adjusted once conditions allow, officials say.

Construction on the much-anticipated Heritage Heights Arena is to start June 2012 now that $1.25 million has been raised through grants, fundraisers and donations.

The Scott Seaman Sports Rink will include an NHL size ice surface, change rooms, concession, multi-purpose room, weight room, cardio room, walking track and common areas. Foothills residents will be able to start using the facility in fall of 2013.

Corix Foothills Water Utility Rate Application

Corix Utilities (Foothills Water) Inc. (Corix) filed an application with the AUC on March 30, 2012 under the Commission’s Rule 0111 process. The Commission deemed the application complete on April 13, 2012. The application requested approval of new water rates for 2012 and 2013 effective April 1, 2012.
