The Lake
The Lake at Heritage Pointe
A bit of Background – The Lake at Heritage Pointe is part of a master planned residential community of Hamlet of Heritage Pointe. In total the Hamlet consists of 850 acres south of Calgary and a part of the Municipal District of the Foothills. The initial phase of development began in 1990, followed by The Lake the at Heritage Pointe, with its 488 homes, almost nearing completion as of 2010,with 2-3 lots to finish.
The Lake, including the Upper Lake (Pond) is approximately 28 acres. Similar to other Lake communities in Calgary, but what sets us apart is the fact that that are far fewer homes in our neighborhood. Even as some are the same size, while other larger. Lake Bonavista is approximately 52 AC. Lake Chaparral – 33 AC. ,. Coral Springs – 22 AC, and Arbour Lake 10 AC. We strive to provide the same level of service. The depths are all similar, approximately 20 feet.
The Lake at Heritage Pointe Owners Association is responsible for the maintenance of common areas, community amenities and infrastructure. As a nonprofit volunteer group of directors whose members are elected by residents at an annual general meeting (AGM);we endeavor to optimize and manage the common assets owned by all residents.
As a small community we also take on the challenges other communities have the advantage of , but on a smaller scale. We are currently re- allocating our assets towards being becoming more community focused, we hope in 2010 to enhance the lake house to function as home base and headquarters to community. For more information on the Lake House please click on Community Info/ Rules and Regulations
In 2010 adopted an international flag system to communicate Ice Safety Conditions. For your safety, ensure that you check the flags posted at the Lake House, both curbside ( at the front) and another on the lakeside..

PRESERVING ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE LAND
The Lake at Heritage Pointe is a part, of the Hamlet of Heritage Pointe has protection is in place for the preservation of natural lands including ravines and coulees within the Hamlet. These protect the land in its natural state in perpetuity, and the distinction between them is the ultimate ownership of the land in the long-term and the ability for public access. No planting, landscaping, clearing, or buildings are permitted on these lands.
1. PRESERVATION EASEMENT
Portions of the ravine north of The Summit and The Ridge are protected by a preservation easement. This was one of the first preservation easements of its kind in Alberta. This easement allows the golf course to retain physical ownership of the ravine land but requires that the land be maintained in its natural state in perpetuity. The preservation easement area also contains a municipal access easement for a public pathway that can be used by residents of the Hamlet and members of the public. The municipal access easement is not a formalized trail. Public access outside of the formal municipal access easement is not permitted.
2.ENVIRONMENTAL RESERVE (ER)
Environmental Reserve is defined in Section 664(1) of the Province of Alberta’s Municipal Government Act. The Hamlet of Heritage Pointe contains ravines and coulees dedicated as ER predominately within and adjacent to The Lake at Heritage Pointe Community. Unlike the Preservation Easement mentioned above, land designated as Environmental Reserve is publicly owned (owned by the MD of Foothills No. 31 for the benefit of its homeowners) and must be retained in its natural state in perpetuity. Formal pathways are not permitted on lands designated as Environmental Reserve but installation of public works (i.e. utility crossings) can occur. Intermittent grazing of livestock is the only activity permitted on ER, and only if first approved by the MD of Foothills. The general public may gain access to ER lands via the public road system in place within the Hamlet of Heritage Pointe.
MUNICIPAL RESERVE (MR)
The Hamlet of Heritage Pointe contains a municipal reserve parcel (approximately twenty (20) acres) that is located on the west side of Heritage Lake Drive and north of Pine Creek Road. The MR parcel is owned by the MD of Foothills has been planned to be used by the Municipal District of the Foothills as part of the Dunbow Recreation Board plans (2010) for this public recreation area. MR cannot be subdivided or sold without first holding a public hearing and notifying the adjacent landowners.
